Me and my Photo experience...
Well I decided that was time to talk a bit about me!
I’m 26 now, with a recent degree on urban and regional planning and I’m currently working in the University that I graduated from, the University of Aveiro.
I’m involved in several different projects with different scales of intervention and importance.
In my free time I like to cycle a lot! I love to grab my bike, equip myself, and cycle in the woods for miles and miles, I’ve even entered in some marathon bike races. That was a cool experience!!! [link] that’s me on the front leading a small group!!
Another of my passions is photography. I had a trouble start! When I was a small boy I used to play with a huge Canon that belonged to my father, he used to take her to the racing circuit of Estoril and to rallies to take pictures of cars, I remember it had a huge objective with its own tripod, but sadly the camera got stolen and maybe 10 or more year after I entered the world of photos again, but not with something very nice! I was the proud owner of a GSmart mini 2, it looked like a key chain instead of a camera, but surprisingly it took some good photos. Don’t get me wrong, I had no control of settings what so ever, but the colors and quality of image for a camera that size was very good, and I could always work with the composition and later change this in Photoshop. After the GSmart it was another mustek, this time a D35, a bit better, but not really a camera yet, after the D35 came another mustek, a MDC 5000 , this one was a bit better, but still, it wasn’t something I can call a camera. After spending very a little amount of money in my cameras I decided that it was time to step up. I then got old to one of my best cameras, a Fujifilm S5500. Now this was a camera, lots of manual controls and great range of zoom. It made me happy for quite some time… after about 15000 photos I decided it was time to change again, but I loved it so much that I replaced it by the manufacture replacing model the S5600 , it was almost the same, but with a few improvements. I kept it for maybe one year, and them my financial state changed and I had a bit more to spend on a camera so I went out and looking for a nice DSLR. After a while I came to a conclusion that it could only be between an EOS 350D or a D70, but then came the Sony Alpha and an Olympus E330 with something called Live View. After reading almost everything there is to read I narrowed it down to 2 cameras, the EOS and the E330. My good friend, and wonderful photographer DarkAnubis [link] has an EOS 350 so I asked what it was like, and then I went to the testing phase. Went to the shop and the EOS seemed a little too small and light, on the other hand the E330 was heavy and big enough. And the live preview… amazing, very very helpful. The LCD comes out [link] and it displays the image like in a compact digital, so you can see what you are take a picture of in the LCD before you take it. This is very good in difficult angles, you just flip the LCD, press the live view button and voi lá! It’s also very good for self-portraits, just put a mirror behind the LCD and you can see and play with the composition. It’s not something I use very often because I love the viewfinder, but it’s handy. Another very important factor was the price! They both cost the same, but the EOS comes out with a 15-45 mm lens I think and for the same money the E330 brings a 14-45mm and a 40-150mm also the multiplier factor of the camera is 2x and the EOS in only a 1.6x . so a normal 150mm lens is automatically changes into a 300mm lens! Which, for doing nature photography, is very good.
After the camera I started looking for accessories, and I got in love with the Tiffen close up kit! I don’t want anything else!!! I love close macro shots, and those filters… combined I have a +7 conversion, it’s wonderful for small details and insects!!!
