Another lost afternoon at my GF backyard… well this little guy, along with a few others (about 20 of them) where enjoying the fest. I just stood there very still avoiding the painful stings and I took a few shots. After a little work on PS (selective desaturation) I liked the final ending and I decide to share. I called it "killer" , as it looks like she’s devouring some dead animal meat.

Yummy. Great shot and the desaturation works wonderfully. Consider cropping a little bit from the left and about half of the distance between the right edge and the rock upon which the hornet is feasting.

Twistoflime - it's not a rock! it's a Plum!

I'll try to post the original version! as well! They were feasting on the fallen plums. As the interior of the plums is vivid red and the texture reminded me of meat I decided to desat all but some vivid red areas to enhance the meat looking effect.

Very good capture and nice colors!
I would crop a little from the right and some at the left....but just my taste.

I like the idea and the desaturation, it is really effective.
I agree with the Elites for cropping, but the tail of the "killer" is blurred more for motion than for DOF (probably you can use some edge sharpening).

Agree with previous comments on left/right cropping suggestions.

Also agree with some noise cleanup in the background.
