Description

This was taken at a Dentist room. This is one of a series of photos I took to make one of those new digital to paper albums (scrapbook from Fuji). I went to the inauguration party and took some photos and then returned to the clinic to take some close ups and some details to make the BG of the album. The initial idea on this one was to take a long shutter photo with the water running, but then I had some problems. First the tap works by sensor and only keeps the water running for 2 secs after you take your hand off of the sensor. I was alone so I had to activate the sensor keep the water running and the the shot. (without a tripod). The second one was that the water flowed very straight. so it didn't caused the desired effect. But in the end I kinda liked the final result with the high contrast and the different metal surfaces appearance. I'm thinking on turning the water drops into red to make it look like blood... to make it look like an image from the game Hitman.

You could have achieved a nice abstract by just getting the tap and left out all the rest. The lower section is not even pleasant...

Just a thought! :)

As for the original: You picked a difficult subject with such a high contrast, and a great potential for over-exposure given the shiny parts. The histogram of this picture is ... unique ;)

I guess 2 seconds and F22 were the happiest average for this. While the over-exposed parts of the tap are minor, the wall got harsh light, especially the lower righ part.

You have courage. These kind of shots need a lot of play with lighting. That's why I avoid them. :)

I think the original is more interesting. It could still use some cropping, but I find it even more interesting in the negative.

Hm ....kind of not that expierenced in terms of the technical aspects, but in general I would say a nice picture of a shiny tab.
First I have seen the original post..... Your new one is better and ....this now sounds may be really stupid, but I would make a compromise of both images.

Agree with Patrick in general and for me there is also a bit motion blur... seems out of focus!
But impressive clearness!
