Description

Ok, so this has nothing to do with what I usually post. I like really clean neat images and in this one I added a lot of noise (original image is clean) and added a yellowish tone. This was done to create a certain old melancholic mood as this is, IMHO, an icon in automotive industry. This is also one of my first tries at panning photography.
I was at my grandmother's house pointing and taking photos at the passing cars and this little fellow appeared It has a lot of tech issues and the BG is far from being ideal, but I still like it! Maybe because I really like this little car! :)

Make: OLYMPUS IMAGING CORP.
Model: E-330
Shutter Speed: 1/60 second
F Number: F/7.1
Focal Length: 150 mm
ISO Speed: 100

As usual I'd like to read your opinion!

Honestly I think the car is so cool!
Much more than the actual technique used by you.

Only misfortune is the lack of space behind the car imo.

I do think that this could work better in bw all together or with a more saturated car and rest in bw (selective desaturation) like this:

Played a little more and did a funny little manipulation version too:

I think you need to pull the car out of the background I guess... :)

nice car :) agree with moser about adding more space behind the car...I would have tried a slower shutter speed to give much more the sense of speed...this can be seen like a paradox...a little "slowly" car with the background panned like that of a Formula 1 car...quite a big contrast...IMO! (the longest comment i've done!!!)

I like the overall capture. I think you chose the shutter speed well. Any slower and the car wouldn't have been as sharp. I do wish the background was a bit more interesting but overall the effect is good. A very cute car!

Thank you all for your comments!
@ Patrick
Being the selective desat nut that I am the bright red with B&W BG was my first approach to this one! but I really wanted to add the nostalgic feeling to this, I wanted to make it look like a photo taken almost in the fifties. I know the BG isn't the best, frankly I don't really imagine it being worst And I agree that it does need a bit more space on the back... Still I really liked it, maybe because of my affection for the car or because it's my first panning try! Kinda like my baby!

Again, thank you all!

A good panning shot but not one of your best. Very cool car though. Nice to see your experimenting. Keep at it !.. Hope to see a stellar shot in this style.
